We, the WebCie, are a vital committee of Aqua. Every single member uses what we make and put forth! 🎉

That also makes that our activities are simple and straightforward but also diverse and many. Interestingly, most don't even require much computer knowledge.
Here is a shortlist:

  1. We keep the website and its “extra’s” up to date. Think Joomla core version (comparable to an operating software like Windows), but also e.g. our event managing software, and the webshop software get continues updates.
    1. That also includes the “Big Updates”, like the one coming up now:  the update from Joomla!4 to Joomla!5.
  2. We keep the website safe. Updating ensures a part of that, but furthermore also managing who can access/modify what, deleting old members from our users, and putting the correct settings in for every piece of software on the website (and we have many of those). This ensures that our data (e.g. names, email addresses, allergies) will not be stolen or misused.
  3. We manage the website subscriptions and hoster. This includes:
    1. looking for a cheap hoster and saving money if possible (we switched last year and made a huge saving with that!)
    2. configuring the DNS, which makes sure invoices and weekmails do not end up in peoples SPAM folders. (A small but quite critical task, which you will notice very quickly once we don’t do that anymore 😅.)
    3. We also manage the mailserver. Even though our own @wszvaqua.nl email addresses are not used as much anymore
  4. We are tech-support. We are the first and only line in solving website problems, because Joomla is freeware and has no formal support. Our tasks on this exist of:
    1. Answering website-related questions from users (mainly from board and committee members). This can be questions related to using the website but also questions for extra features.
    2. Solving immediate website errors and problems. E.g. if the website is down, it is our responsibility to solve it ASAP. And consequently, we must…
    3. Contact developers of the website softwares we use (e.g. eventbooking, hikashop) on the bugs we have and communicate about / implement possible solutions.
  5. We educate on using the website. Even though we view that many committees could introduce their members to editor tasks themselves, we do have an online training to follow. Once the website is finished and/or we have more members, we can start the in-person website trainings again.
    1. We educate on all features, also e.g. banners, which are used less often, and few people know about.
